The Parable of the Pampered PrincessDry Bread

(This parable appears on p. 64 above.)

The Moral

I have used this meshol on several occasions, explaining that success in life is not necessarily measured by fashionable clothes, new furniture, carefully nurtured (read: spoiled) children (not more than two), who have all the opportunities to learn music, dancing, tennis, swimming etc. Success in life is also not measured in terms of one's popularity with the neighbors, a large salary, a large and well-appointed home. Absolutely not! The success of a Jew is fulfilling the will of G-d. Period.
