A Day of Glad Tidings: Another Letter for Yud-Tes KislevYud-Tes Kislev: Starting a Year that Heeds Its Head

With the approach of Yud-Tes Kislev, 5711 [1950], the Rebbe sent out the following telegram to all Chabad communities throughout the world:[755]

I would ask our brethren of the chassidic fraternity[756] to participate in farbrengens on Yud-Tes Kislev and on the day of the fifth Chanukah light[757] (May these times bring us good things!). An endeavor should be made to include people who do not belong to the chassidic brotherhood, and to organize the widespread dissemination of the wellsprings of Chassidus.
Menachem Schneerson

Notes:

  1. (Back to text) This is evidently the first of the hundreds of telegrams that were sent out over the years in anticipation of significant chassidic and other dates, with specific directives for the Rebbe's chassidim.

  2. (Back to text) In the original Heb., Anash, an acronym for anshei shlomeinu.

  3. (Back to text) A date connected with the release of the Alter Rebbe from his second imprisonment in the Tainy Soviet Fortress in Petersburg in 1800.
