No. 687

This letter was addressed to R. Dovber Chaskind.
B"H, 21 Menachem Av, 5710

Greetings and blessings,

I received your letter from 14 Menachem Av. It is my hope that certainly your father — and your brother-in-law, sister ... — have established themselves in a desirable manner.[745] As per your request, I mentioned in the room of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m, that you arranged your return trip for the day of Friday, 5 Elul. He will certainly give you his blessing that your trip be as it should.

I received a letter from a bookseller, Mordechai David Bloom in Jerusalem (in the marketplace of Meah Shearim, the Rav Charlap building), who writes that he possesses several binders of manuscripts of Chassidus and that he desires to sell them to Kehot. Please, if you are in Jerusalem, could you see if they are original manuscripts or merely copies. Also, if possible, [could you] clarify if [the maamarim from] these manuscripts have already been printed or not. If the price is very low, you may purchase them in any case. Certainly, it is appropriate that Mr. Bloom not be aware that you are acting as our agent, for that would certainly increase the price. Thank you for taking the trouble.

Signing with blessings for a suitable journey, and with regards to your father and the members of his household,

Menachem Schneerson
