No. 645

This letter was sent to R. Tzvi Shusterman, one of the shluchim in Chicago.
B"H, 21Tammuz, 5710

Greetings and blessings,

Your letter was duly received. My reply was delayed because of matters involving Yud-Beis Tammuz. I remembered you when I visited the gravesite on that day, [asking for blessings] in all that is necessary.

With regard to your concern about finding an appropriate teacher for your Talmud Torah: In the time from his passing until the present, we have seen concrete evidence of how my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m, draws down success to those standing on their watch, fulfilling the mission in which he charged them. It is merely necessary for them to make an effort and they find prolific success. Undoubtedly, the same will be true in this instance as well and you will notify me with good tidings concerning this matter.

With regard to whether to change your place of residence and whether to buy a home: Since it is your intent to visit here within a few weeks, it is my opinion not to do the above [at present] and when you will be here, we will speak about the above.

May G-d draw down success to you and may all the blessings with which my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, hk"m, blessed you and all of your household be fulfilled in a complete manner.

With wishes of all types of good and with greetings to all those who seek our welfare,

Rabbi Menachem Schneerson

Your letter of 20 Tammuz was just received. If, as you write, it is impossible to remain in the apartment that is in the building of the synagogue, and the price of the house that is being offered you is not more than $10,000, you should purchase it. May it be in a good and auspicious hour. You will undoubtedly inform [me] of the day of the purchase before the month of Menachem Av.[613]

Notes:

  1. (Back to text) [Implied is that the purchase should be completed before the beginning of the month of Av.]
