No. 378

This letter was addressed to R. Yaakov Katz of Chicago, one of the initial supporters of Lubavitch activities in America.
B"H, 15 Tammuz, 5708

Greetings and blessings,

In response to your letter from 12 Tammuz, I am enclosing the kuntreis from Shavuos and a copy of my letter from 4 Sivan with the picture.

It would be unfortunate if the other picture has fallen into the hands of an inappropriate person.

According to your request, I asked my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, his viewpoint on the possibility of a war with Russia at the present time. He maintains that it is highly improbable, but the world is being intimidated concerning [this possibility].

It will certainly interest you to know that at the farbrengen [commemorating] the Festival of Redemption (Yud-Beis-Yud-Gimmel Tammuz), my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, called on the temimim, [both] young married men and students, to travel around [the outlying areas] for several weeks to inspire [Jews to] Jewish [awareness] and kosher [Jewish] education and the dissemination of kosher books. He charged Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch with the organization of these journeys.

I am enclosing a photocopy of the Rebbe Shlita's letter concerning this.

I hope that you will support [the concepts explained] in the letter and in general be a herald of good news.

With good wishes to those who seek our welfare and with wishes for everlasting good in all matters,

Rabbi Menachem Schneerson
