No. 241

This letter was addressed to R. Chanoch Hendel Havlin, one of the members of the Lubavitch community in Jerusalem.
B"H, 20 Tammuz, 5706

Greetings and blessings,

In response to your letter of 13 Sivan:

  1. The copies of the letters of R. Avraham of Kalisk have not been received as of yet. If possible, [it would be desirable for you] to send the collection of letters here with the intent that they be returned. We would then choose those which have not been printed already in the texts Pri HaEretz, Beis Rebbe, Ginzei Nistaros, and Kiryat Sefer (Vol. I) and we would make copies of the remainder. It is self-understood that [the letters] could be sent to my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, directly. If that is in no way possible, send at least copies here.

  2. We printed a limited number of the book of sichos of the Rebbe Rashab. We sent you five copies. The cost of each one, together with shipping, is $10. You have certainly received them by now. Please send back any of the copies that you cannot sell at that price. (Obviously, the cost of shipping will be our expense.)

  3. [The books that] you requested and took responsibility for have been sent to you with the exception of the Talks and Tales of Tammuz, 5704, which is out of print.

  4. Please give R. Yitzchak Avigdor Orenstein eighteen half-dollars from our funds on my account as a present to the bride and groom in connection with the [upcoming] wedding of his son (see Likkutei Torah, the maamar entitled Zos Chanukas HaMizbeiach). Also give him the enclosed letter. I thank you in advance for your troubles.

  5. The book salesman said that he sent Yalkut Shimoni and Keren Orah together with all the books. We already paid him for them immediately after he sent them.

  6. From the above funds, give $10 to Yeshivas Toras Emes, $10 to Collel [Chabad], and $5 to the International Society for [the Recitation of] Tehillim on my account in connection with the [upcoming] yahrzeit of my father and teacher of blessed memory.

I am certain that if any new possibilities arise with regard to the certificate [of immigration] for my esteemed mother, you will exert effort in that regard and notify me.

I conclude with the blessing "Immediately to teshuvah, immediately to Redemption,"

Rabbi Menachem Schneerson
